Mariah Carey declares 'it's time' as she ‘defrosts’ in hilarious Christmas video

Mariah Carey is gearing up for Christmas early, having released a video of herself thawing from a large cube of ice.

Carey, renowned for her iconic Christmas tune All I Want For Christmas Is You, is back to encourage people to get into the festive mood.

Keeping up with her annual tradition of releasing a video on November 1, the hitmaker wasted no time getting into the Christmas spirit straight after Halloween.

Almost 30 years after the musician first dropped the track, Carey put on a cheerful display as she reminded fans Christmas is fast approaching.

The clip shows a clock ticking from 11.59 p.m. on October 31 to midnight on November 1.

As midnight strikes, a vault door opens to reveal Carey entombed in a block of ice as Halloween characters, including Ghostface from Scream and a person in a pumpkin mask, use hairdryers to defrost her.

As the ice begins to thaw, Carey sings “It’s time!”, prompting the ice to crack, and she emerges as her Christmas anthem plays.

Carey frolics in a skin-tight red Santa suit surrounded by Christmas trees and elves in festive jumpers, as well as her children, Moroccan and Monroe, 12.

She captioned the video: “It’s…… TIME!!! #MariahSZN.”

Carey has been a Christmas icon ever since she first released her famous track in 1994.

However, her festive track didn’t actually reach No. 1 until 2019. Since then, it’s been branded the most popular Christmas song of all time according to Billboard rankings.

Mariah has also released a string of Christmas albums and this year will perform a number of Christmas shows in the US and Canada.

She also has a Christmas special on Apple TV+, Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special, which was released in 2020.

In recent years, Mariah has capitalised on her Queen of Christmas status by dropping a video on November 1 each year. In each clip, the musician gleefully encourages fans to get into the festive mood.
