Margot Robbie has been commanding attention throughout the press tour for her upcoming film Wuthering Heights, delivering a run of striking red carpet moments alongside co-star Jacob Elordi.
Beyond the method dressing, however, it is the tone of the campaign itself that has captured attention, leaning heavily into the emotional intensity of the film.
Earlier this year, Robbie spoke candidly about her on-set dynamic with Elordi, sharing that he often remained close during filming and that his absence could leave her feeling “lost.” Elordi has similarly described their creative connection as a “mutual obsession,” while Robbie also recalled receiving roses from her co-star on Valentine’s Day.
At the film’s premiere, however, the focus shifted back to Robbie’s real-life partnership. The actress arrived in a sculptural, form-fitting Schiaparelli gown, accessorised with the iconic Cartier Taj Mahal necklace from the Elizabeth Taylor Archive and Estate.
By her side was her husband and producing partner, Tom Ackerley, who wore a classic black tuxedo as the couple stepped onto the red carpet together.
The moment underscored the deeper context behind the production. Wuthering Heights marks the latest collaboration between Robbie and Ackerley through their company LuckyChap Entertainment.
Married since 2016, the couple have built a long-standing creative partnership. Ackerley serves as executive producer on Wuthering Heights, while Robbie takes on dual roles as producer and lead actress, portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Despite operating at the centre of Hollywood, the couple have maintained one of the industry’s most low-key relationships. Rarely courting controversy or public spectacle, Robbie and Ackerley have largely kept their marriage and family life private, even as their professional profile has continued to rise.
Still, as Robbie’s latest press tour reignites public interest, curiosity around her relationship with Ackerley has naturally resurfaced. Below, everything we know about the couple’s decade-long partnership, from how they met to how they have quietly built an empire together.
Margot Robbie And Husband Tom Ackerley’s Relationship Timeline
2013: Margot And Tom Meet
Margot and Tom met back in 2013, on the set of Suite Francaise. Margot was playing a supporting role while Tom was the assistant director. The pair became close friends and moved into the same share house, along with five other friends, the following year.
“We were like: ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if we all lived together?’,” Margot told the Guardian in 2018. “Someone said: ‘But you don’t live in London,’ and I said: ‘I don’t live anywhere. I’ll move.’ Three days later we signed a lease in Clapham. I didn’t even see the place—I had to fly out to the Golden Globes three hours after we made the decision.”

2014: Margot And Tom Become Flat Mates
Margot and Tom didn’t immediately get together, in fact, the pair remained ‘just friends’ even while living together. According to Margot, the feelings crept up on her.
“I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me,” Margot told Vogue in 2016.
“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him,'” she continued, before adding, “And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'”
Due to their shared friendship circle and rather complicated living arrangement, the couple decided to keep the beginning of their relationship a secret.
“We kept it a secret, because we weren’t really taking it seriously,” Margot told the Guardian in the same interview, “‘Oh, whatever, we’re just mates, we’re just mates.’ And then everyone found out.”
“Our house turned into The Jerry Springer Show for a moment there. But then the dust settled, and it was all good. Everyone was, like: ‘No! This is going to ruin our group!’ And then it didn’t. It was fine.”
That year, the couple were first publicly spotted on dates together—including to an ice hockey game in New York City.

2016: Margot And Tom Get Married
The couple kept pretty much out of the spotlight until 2016, when rumours of a secret wedding started circling. It wasn’t long until the couple revealed they had secretly gotten married in Byron Bay that December.
A few days after the wedding, Margot posted a picture of her ring to Instagram. While her account has since been deleted, we won’t ever forget the iconic photo.
According to People, Margot was given away by her mother and her three siblings attended the ceremony.

2017: Margot And Tom Skip Their Honeymoon To Film I, Tonya
Instead of taking a honeymoon, the ambitious couple chose to film I Tonya.
“There were times we were sitting in a car parked in Atlanta freezing cold being like, ‘We should be on a beach right now. We should be on a honeymoon. What are we doing?!’ Following our dream,” Margot told Extra.

2018: Married Life
In 2018, Margot opened up to PORTER magazine about married life.
“Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow,” she said. “I have a responsibility being someone’s wife, I want to be better.”
“Even if we both have to fly to a country in between where we both are for one night, we’ll do it and then fly back to work the next day. And we speak all day everyday on the phone,” Margot added.

2020: Margot And Tom Keep Their Relationship Out Of The Spotlight
Margot and Tom continued to keep their relationship as private as possible but were spotted getting cosy together on a couple of occasions, including at the 77th Golden Globes.

2024: Margot And Tom Reveal They’re Expecting Their First Child
Multiple sources confirmed to People that Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, were set to become parents, after they were spotted vacationing in Lake Como in July with a very cute baby bump in tow. Just weeks later the Barbie star and her husband made a uncharacteristically public outing to Wimbeldon with Margot showing off her baby bump in a polka dot Alaia dress.

October 2024: Margot & Tom Welcome A Baby Boy
This Barbie is officially a mum! Keeping a lowkey profile during her pregnancy it’s no surprise the news of Margot and Tom’s first child leaked in relatively under-the-radar fashion – two weeks after they reportedly welcomed the bub! Per The Daily Mail, Margot and Tom welcomed a baby boy on October 17th with sources telling the outlet “all is well” with the delighted parents and their new bub.
January 2026: Tom Supports Margot At The Wuthering Heights Premiere

After welcoming their first child together, Tom and Margot kept a low profile for much of 2025. Robbie later returned to the public eye toward the end of the year to promote A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, in which she stars opposite Colin Farrell.
Now, the couple are back on the red carpet for her latest project, Wuthering Heights, with the pair reportedly staying close throughout the evening. And that brings us up to speed!
