Margaret Qualley To Portray Amanda Knox In Hulu Series

Margaret Qualley cast as Amanda Knox in upcoming Hulu limited series.

Margaret Qualley has been cast as Amanda Knox in the upcoming Hulu limited series that will detail the story of Knox's wrongful conviction for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher in 2007. The series, based on true events, will follow Knox's 16-year journey to prove her innocence.

The project, which has been confirmed to consist of eight hour-long episodes, will feature Qualley in the lead role, with Knox serving as a producer alongside Monica Lewinksy. Other notable producers include KJ Steinberg, Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield of The Littlefield Company, as well as Chris Robinson via Knox Robinson Productions.

This isn't the first time Knox's story has been portrayed on screen. In 2016, she participated in a documentary-length interview with Netflix, recounting the events of her study abroad trip that led to the tragic death of her roommate. The series highlighted Knox's claims of innocence and her relationship with Raffaele Sollecito, who was also implicated in the murder case.

Additionally, Lifetime previously aired a film titled 'Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy' in 2011, which depicted the legal challenges Knox faced during the investigation and trial process.

Hulu has a track record of exploring controversial true crime stories, with successful series like 'The Act' and 'The Dropout.' 'The Act' focused on the case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, while 'The Dropout' delved into the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her company Theranos.

Qualley, known for her roles in 'Maid,' 'Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood,' 'The Leftovers,' and 'Novitiate,' will bring her talent to the portrayal of Amanda Knox in this highly anticipated series. The premiere date for the Hulu limited series has not yet been announced, but fans can expect a compelling and thought-provoking narrative based on the real-life events surrounding Knox's case.
