After missing the initial days of New York Yankees' spring training, Marcus Stroman arrived on Friday and reiterated his commitment to being a starting pitcher. Stroman emphatically stated that he will not pitch out of the bullpen, emphasizing his role as a starter.

The Yankees currently have a rotation consisting of Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt, leaving the possibility of a bullpen role for Stroman if circumstances change. Manager Aaron Boone acknowledged the team's focus on developing Stroman as a starter but left room for adjustments as needed.

While some teams are considering six-man rotations, Boone indicated that the Yankees are unlikely to adopt this strategy. Stroman, known for his durability despite his stature, expressed confidence in his ability to consistently make starts throughout the season.

Stroman is set to participate in a bullpen session on Saturday as he prepares for the upcoming season. Despite not being required to report until a later date, Stroman chose to join the team on Valentine's Day, citing positive vibes and a seamless return to the clubhouse.

Having signed a two-year contract with the Yankees, Stroman is due to earn $18 million this season with a conditional player option for 2026 based on his performance. In his first season with the team, Stroman posted a 4.31 ERA over 29 starts and one relief appearance.

Reflecting on his role during the playoffs, Stroman acknowledged the need for flexibility but reiterated his primary focus on starting. With over a decade of experience in the majors, Stroman is determined to maintain his health and consistency as a starter.

Boone expressed satisfaction with Stroman's return to camp, noting his readiness both physically and mentally. The team aims to support Stroman in his preparations for the season and move forward positively.

Overall, Stroman's presence at spring training signals his commitment to the Yankees and his determination to excel as a starting pitcher in the upcoming season.
