Marcus Smart courteously left the floor to vomit during the Celtics win over the Lakers

The game between the Lakers and the Celtics on Wednesday was a roller coaster, and it’s hard to blame anyone who felt sick while watching.

At one point in the game, Boston led Los Angeles by 20 points. Later, the Lakers wound up taking a 13-point lead. Eventually, the Celtics tied it up before the end of regulation and then went on a 12-0 scoring run during the overtime period.

There were so many massive changes in momentum that it was hard to keep track of what was happening. Lost in the shuffle of Boston’s victory, though, was that Celtics guard Marcus Smart had to leave the game late in the game because he was feeling sick.

Smart told Boston Sports Journal‘s John Karalis that the reason why he left the game was to puke and rally.

It was very kind of Smart to do this off-camera so no one had to see him recover from whatever illness was ailing him, and it was thoughtful of him to not make any arena workers at FKA Staples Center clean it up.

Fortunately, it seems Smart felt better after getting it out of his system.

The NBA’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year had some big moments in Boston’s victory, including this steal on a lazy inbound pass and this crucial 3-pointer during clutch minutes toward the end of the fourth quarter.
