Marcus Rashford suffers injury during Manchester United vs Everton

Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of Marcus Rashford after he was forced off with a groin problem in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton.

The 25-year-old is United’s top scorer this season with 28 goals and grabbed his 10th assist of the season when he set up Anthony Martial’s second half goal. The attacker pulled up when running after a ball with 13 minutes to go, immediately signalling to the bench to be substituted.

Old Trafford was subdued as Rashford trudged off town the tunnel grimacing and looking in some discomfort. Wout Weghorst came on in his stead.

Rashford missed England duty during March’s international break with a knock and there are now fears over the striker's availability for United's Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla.

The striker has been instrumental in United’s success this season. Against Brentford, the attacker matched Wayne Rooney’s record of scoring 10 winning goals in a single season after becoming the first club player in 64 years to score in nine consecutive home games in January.

The academy graduate is enjoying the most prolific season in his career and is among the leading candidates to be named the club's player of the year. The Reds had welcomed back Christian Eriksen for the first time since his January ankle injury against Everton as Martial netted his first goal February 1.

After Sevilla on Thursday, United play Nottingham Forest before the return trip to Spain in the Europa League. Three days later, the club travel to Wembley to take on Brighton in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
