Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United will not take “risks” with Marcus Rashford after the forward came off injured during the pre-season win over Real Betis in San Diego.
The England international limped off in the second half of the game at the Snapdragon Stadium, with United ultimately winning 3-2.
The Red Devils face Liverpool this weekend in South Carolina before travelling to Wembley to meet Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Ten Hag has already lost key players ahead of the start of the new season, with summer signing Leny Yoro ruled out for around three months with a foot problem, while striker Rasmus Hojlund is expected to miss six weeks due to a hamstring injury.
"We have to wait," Ten Hag told reporters in the US.
"Of course, we don't take risks in the last game of the tour, going into the season next week already, we go into an important game and we are still 24 hours after a game.
"The final assessment we still have to make and then we will see if they are ready for the game against Liverpool on Saturday."
Ten Hag also confirmed Argentine Copa America winners Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez will return to pre-season training imminently.
“Alejandro will already, tomorrow, start training. Licha will start on Monday so I have it in my mind, and that there is a plan and the need for every player in the off-season. We know every player where they are fitness-wise and next week we have to bring everything together.”
