Marcus Rashford reportedly held transfer talks with PSG in summer 2021.
The Manchester United star is said to have been identified as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe when he appeared destined to join Real Madrid.
The French superstar may yet head for the Bernabeu when his contract expires this summer, but the Ligue 1 giants chose to stand firm and risk losing Mbappe for free.
But French football journalist Fabrice Hawkins has claimed PSG made contact with Rashford as a contingency plan.
It's claimed the England international was "thrilled" with a proposal to replace Mbappe at the Parc des Princes.
Hawkins wrote on Twitter: "Marcus #Rashford was in contact with PSG last summer, in the event of the departure of Kylian Mbappé. MR, who has often shone against Paris, was thrilled at the idea of joining the club in the capital. The link between the two parties always exists in view of the next #mercato"
Rashford, 24, remains a highly popular figure at Old Trafford and his current deal runs until June 2023.
Mbappe, meanwhile, had looked set to leave PSG for free come the summer, but some reports in recent days have claimed they feel they can convince him to sign an extension.
Persistent rumours have also linked the 23-year-old with Liverpool.
