Marco Silva believes Fulham will head into the Premier League next season in much better shape than their last promotion.
A quick-fire return to the top flight was sealed on Tuesday night following a 3-0 win over Preston at Craven Cottage, resulting in the club’s third promotion in five years.
Their last successful Championship campaign came during the 2019-20 season, winning the play-off final against rivals Brentford.
Scott Parker, however, had less than two months to prepare for life back in the Premier League and his team were ultimately relegated after taking only 28 points from 38 games.
Much has been made about Fulham’s bouncing between the two divisions of late but Silva, who was appointed in July 2021, is confident of making a much better attempt at retaining Premier League status next time around.
Promoted in April, decision-makers behind the scenes will naturally have much more time to prepare.
“We got the promotion earlier in the season, which I think will be a good help for us to prepare in the right way, because the next pre-season will be really important for us,” he said.
“Now is a moment for us to keeping working for the next four games, but we are already working and preparing well for the next season.
“The challenge is huge, but we want to be there and we worked so hard to achieve it. We have to be really positive and not go into the season with this concern on our mind, we have to go with full desire and ambition.”
