Anna Thynn, the Dowager Marchioness of Bath who famously fell out with her son over his marriage to former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Emma Weymouth has died at the age of 78.
The former actress and model reportedly had to endure years of infidelity at the hands of her own husband - Alexander Thynn, the 7th Marquess - who died in 2020 after contracting Covid-19.
The Marchioness, who passed away in Paris, turned a blind eye to her late spouse's rumoured 70 mistresses, but was far less understanding when her son Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth wed socialite Emma in 2013.
Emma, who appeared on the hit BBC show in 2019, is the daughter of Nigerian oil trader Ladi Jadesimi and English socialite Suzanna McQuiston, and the Thynn family were friends of Emma's from childhood.
After the 48-year old popped the question, however, relations within the aristocrat family began to break down as rows erupted.
The wedding caused controversy after the Marquess of Bath boycotted the nuptials after a falling out over the removal of some risqué murals he painted, that had previously hung at their estate.
Drama ensued between Ceawlin and his millionaire father following his decision to ditch the unpleasant pornographic wall mural caused a lasting and bitter rift.
So angry was the Marquess at the destruction of his graffiti-style masterpiece, he refused to attend his heir's wedding.
The Marchioness, meanwhile, was banned from the ceremony for allegedly questioning her son's choice of a half-Nigerian spouse.
In 2015, Ceawlin claimed his mother had said his marriage to Emma would affect "400 years of bloodline" - something she later denied saying, insisting she isn't a racist.
Anna, born Anna Abigail Gyarmathy in Hungary to a mathematician father and poet mother moved to France when she was a child.
She embarked on an acting career at 15, under the stage name Anna Gael, appearing in films such as Hell is Empty and To Commit a Murder.
