Marcel Sabitzer, Tyrell Malacia, Marcus Rashford - Manchester United injury latest and return dates

Manchester United's injury crisis worsened ahead of their 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest on Sunday with the absences of Marcel Sabitzer and Tyrell Malacia.

The pair have joined a number of United players on the sidelines for a crucial six weeks between now and the end of the season. Malacia was not involved in the matchday squad due to a sore knee, with Diogo Dalot moved across to left-back, while Marcel Sabitzer had to be replaced by Christian Eriksen after reporting an issue in the warm-up.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were both forced off against Sevilla last week - the former being ruled out for the season - while Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay and several others have been absent for the last few games.

RATINGS: Eriksen and Fernandes good in win vs Forest

The latest injuries have only worsened the crisis at United, who have three competitions to fight for and as many as 13 games left to play between now and June. Erik ten Hag will hope that a number of those currently unavailable will be fit for Thursday's Europa League second leg in Seville, and MEN Sport have taken a look at all those currently sidelined.

Marcel Sabitzer

Injury: Unknown

Possible return date: Unknown

What Ten Hag has said: "He had a problem in the warm-up. We didn't take the risk because we already have some injuries, so we have to find out tomorrow [Monday]. Hopefully it's not a big injury. We chose not to go into the game with risk. [That's because] you have either have to take him off really quick and we might make the injury worse."

Tyrell Malacia

Injury: Sore knee

Possible return date: Thursday (vs Sevilla)

What Ten Hag has said: N/A

Lisandro Martinez

Injury: Broken metatarsal

Possible return date: Pre-season

What the club have said: "Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his foot.

"However, the Argentinian defender is expected to make a full recovery in time to be ready for the start of next season."

Raphael Varane

Injury: Foot

Possible return date: May 4 (vs Brighton)

What the club have said: "Raphael Varane was also substituted with an injury at half-time in the same game and is expected to be out for a few weeks."

Scott McTominay

Injury: Unknown

Possible return date: Thursday (vs Sevilla)

What Ten Hag has said: "Could be but we have to see and we have two sessions to go. I don’t know by now but it could be that Scott and Luke return to the squad [vs Forest]."

Marcus Rashford

Injury: Groin

Possible return date: Thursday (vs Sevilla)

What Ten Hag has said: "There is a chance [he could feature at Sevilla] but I can't confirm it in this moment."

Luke Shaw

Injury: Unknown

Possible return date: Thursday (vs Sevilla)

What Ten Hag has said: "Could be but we have to see and we have two sessions to go. I don’t know by now but it could be that Scott and Luke return to the squad [vs Forest]."

Alejandro Garnacho

Injury: Ankle

Possible return date: Unknown

What Ten Hag has said: "We have something in our heads, but I don't want [to reveal it] - he will definitely be back before the end of the season.

"I think he will be in the final stages, but I don't want to bring so much pressure on the medical and Garnacho to set a date when to be back."

Tom Heaton

Injury: Ankle

Possible return date: Thursday (vs Sevilla)

What Heaton has said: "Yeah, unfortunately the day before the Fulham game, I rolled my ankle in training. Thankfully, it’s not too bad but it’ll mean a couple of weeks out, I think. I should be back some point in April somewhere, hopefully halfway through."

Donny van de Beek

Injury: Knee

Possible return date: Pre-season

What Ten Hag has said: "Of course, the bad news is he is out for the rest of the season, but the good news is, in the long term, his knee will be okay and he will be ready again to play at the highest levels and will be ready for the start of pre-season."
