Marcel Sabitzer's agent drops hint over permanent Man Utd transfer

Marcel Sabitzer is very happy at Manchester United and would be open to making his loan move from Bayern Munich permanent in the summer, according to his agent.

Sabitzer joined United on loan until the end of the season on January transfer deadline day, with Erik ten Hag in need of reinforcements in midfield following the injury to Christian Eriksen. He has made four appearances so far for United, with Eriksen’s injury, Casemiro’s now-served suspension and Scott McTominay’s previous unavailability giving him plenty of opportunities.

The Austrian international was a bit-part player at Bayern and has relished the chance to play more frequently. His agent Roger Wittmann believes the style of the Premier League suits him – and has suggested a summer transfer could be on the cards.

"At Manchester United we see Marcel from Leipzig again. I'm very happy for him," Wittmann told SPORT1. Asked what happens in the summer, he replied: "We'll see when the time comes."

SPORT1 reports that Bayern would also be open to the idea of a permanent move in the summer transfer window. The Bavarian giants would like to at least recoup the €15million (£13.2m) they paid RB Leipzig to sign him in August 2021.

Sabitzer is under contract with Bayern until June 2025, but if he impresses Ten Hag then a deal could be done which suits all parties. While his performances have not been flawless – he was fortunate to avoid a red card for a poor challenge on Wout Faes during the 3-0 win over Leicester on the weekend – Sabitzer’s box-to-box style fits the Premier League well, according to Wittmann.

HAVE YOUR SAY! What have you made of Marcel Sabitzer? And would you like to see Manchester United sign him this summer? Comment below.

“Marcel is a top player. It doesn't surprise me at all that he's performing so well so quickly,” he said. “If you have as much experience as Marcel, whether in the Champions League or with his more than 60 international matches, it doesn't take long to find your way around a club and a league like this.

"He loves this English hardness! It was clear from the start that the Premier League was a great fit for him. He's an aggressive player. He does exactly what he can there. And that's what's needed there."

Sabitzer’s competitive edge is evident on the training pitch at Carrington, as well as in competitive matches. “I’m a very bad loser,” he told the club website after joining. “Even in training, I can’t lose. I have that mentality over the years, I hate to lose.”

He also considers himself to be a natural leader, meaning he won’t shy away from speaking up in the dressing room, despite being the newest member of the squad. “That is my mentality – to go forward, have a voice in the dressing room, on the pitch and give it all,” he added. “That’s normal for me.”
