Marcel Sabitzer could cost Manchester United as little as £18m (€20m) to sign permanently, according to a German report.
The midfielder has played seven times for United since his January switch from Bayern Munich, from whom he is on loan until the end of the season. He is due to miss Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Real Betis due to an unspecified knock.
Sabitzer has made four starts and has pleased fans with his first steps at Old Trafford. The Austrian had been on United’s radar for some time and the club decided to take the plunge on deadline day after learning that Christian Eriksen would be out until at least April with his ankle injury.

There has been speculation that United are planning to sign Sabitzer permanently in the summer with Erik ten Hag after a new midfielder, along with a marquee striker, this summer.
Bild claims that Bayern are already planning for next season and moot that Sabitzer is one that could be shown the exit door anyway. It adds that the player 'feels at home' at United, which comes after his agent said he is "seeing the Marcel of Leipzig" again, last month
The 28-year-old only began seven of his 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, having made just 20 starts in all competitions within his 18 months at the Allianz Arena.
Sabitzer still has two years left on his deal but Bild says Bayern could allow him to go for as little as £18m, which would be a profit on the £14m they paid RB Leipzig for him in August 2021.
Elsewhere, United have penned an interest in Mason Mount after Chelsea decided to postpone any contract talks until the summer, according to the Guardian. With the England international close to entering the final year of his deal, he could be let go by his current employers for a cut fee.
With Harry Kane on United’s list of potential summer targets, Erik ten Hag could be searching for a low-cost midfield option should the Tottenham striker’s capture demand a figure north of £100m.
Liverpool are also said to be interested in Mount, who could be available for around £50m. The playmaker is apparently seeking to grow his supposed £75,000-a-week salary and Chelsea are keen to keep him, although are expecting offers during the window.
