Marc Roca talks 'progressing well' with Leeds United hoping to conclude deal 'this week'

Leeds United are looking to finalise their third major signing of the summer in Marc Roca, with talks said to be progressing well. The Whites are in pole position to sign the midfielder and are said to be hopeful ‘to get the deal done this week’.

The club have moved decisively already this window, bringing in RB Salzburg duo Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen for a combined £35million, and they have since set their sights midfield reinforcements and pinpointed Roca as the key target. The 25-year-old has only played 24 games over two seasons with the Bundesliga champions and looks surplus to requirements following their signing of Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

And Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg says the player is 'leaning towards a move to Leeds'.

He tweeted: “News #Roca : Total agreement between #LUFC & Bayern today: €12m + bonuses. Roca can sign a contract until 2026. He’s the desired central midfielder of Marsch. Roca has to say YES now, after that the deal will be finalized but he’s leaning towards a move to Leeds. @SkySports

The agreement comes after reports in Germany that Roca will receive a pay-rise upon a move to Elland Road, with the Whites able to offer more money as well as more minutes. The Spaniard is believed to be on around £40,000 per week in Bavaria, but a four-year deal in West Yorkshire is likely to come ‘with a significant salary increase.’

Leeds look to have pipped several clubs to the former Espanyol man’s signature, including the likes of West Ham and Barcelona, presumably due to a better chance of consistent minutes - the key factor in Roca’s decision to leave Bayern.

And transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the club are hopeful that a deal can be finalised this week, with personal terms all but wrapped up.

He tweeted: “Leeds are progressing in talks with Bayern for Marc Roca. Bayern are asking for €15m fee, negotiations underway - Leeds hope to get the deal done this week. #LUFC
