DALLAS — Marc Rebillet got famous in his apartment, in his bathrobe. While he streamed live, viewers gave him song ideas and he ran with them, singing over loops he laid down on a keyboard in his living room. Before the pandemic, he was an internet celebrity with manic energy and a growing tour schedule. The hunger for online content with a DIY bent lifted him higher. In January, he was on a Super Bowl commercial for YouTube Premium, wearing his signature garment.
Last month, the Dallas native launched a series called "We’ve Got Company" with Amazon Music on the platform Twitch.
In it, Rebillet hangs out with musicians in an extremely ‘70s living room that could pass for his grandparents’, shot like it’s the set of a single-camera sitcom. Previously, he ate cake with producer Dillon Francis while fielding questions from viewers about whatever. “Ask him what he favorite tattoo is,” one viewer typed, clumsily. “That’s poetry,” said Rebillet.
This week’s guest: Erykah Badu, who earned her own reputation as a streaming queen during lockdown, staging elaborate performances from her house. It’s not the first time they’ve met. When Rebillet toured drive-in theaters in 2020, she joined him for a Fort Worth show. They should have plenty to catch up on. Listen on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Amazon Music’s Twitch channel.
