Marc Cucurella found out about teammate Jorginho leaving Chelsea on camera - as his smartest player verdict resulted in a shock revelation.
Mikel Arteta's Gunners are making strides towards claiming a shock Premier League title win and have been keen to upgrade their midfield for that charge. Moises Caicedo has been one target but Brighton are not budging on letting go of the midfielder, despite his public pleas to make the move happen. Instead, Arsenal have headed across London for Italian reinforcement as a short-term option between now and the end of this season.
But this was news to Chelsea left-back Cucurella, who was on media duties for his club with Goal. Taking part in an innocent Q&A session, the Spaniard was asked who his smartest teammate was. He answered that it was the Italian midfielder, but he was cut short and told that Jorginho was on his way to the Emirates.
News of his pal in red was fresh information to him and he was left stunned that he's gone to the title challengers. Cucurella then burst into laughter as the interview was then moved on.
Leandro Trossard has also joined Arsenal this winter window. Chelsea meanwhile have brought in a whole range of new players and are pushing for Benfica's midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
