Mars Wrigley is bringing back Marathon chocolate bars to UK shelves after it was rebranded as Snickers three decades ago.

The confectionery company has confirmed the bars will return after a brief stint in stores last year saw four million of the bars purchased in 12 weeks.

Last year’s introduction was so popular, that Morrisons supermarket had to put a limit on how many Marathon bars each customer could buy.

The bars were rebranded as Snickers in 1990, and its new branding says it’s a ‘retro edition by Snickers’.

Available in selected supermarkets and stores now, the Marathon bars will be available with heritage branding in Morrisons and McColls for a limited time of three months.

David Manzini, General Manager at Mars Wrigley UK, said: "At Mars Wrigley we’re all about creating better moments through our sweet treats. It’s clear that after nearly 30 years away, people loved the return of the Marathon bar last year.

"When the British public speaks, we always aim to deliver! It’s great that after making chocolate in the UK for nearly 90 years people still love our chocolate!"
