The trailer for new film Mara effectively captures the horrors of sleep paralysis.
Starring Olga Kurylenko, the film follows a criminal psychologist who, upon investigating the murder of a man, begins to fall victim to an ancient demon which murders people in their sleep.
British filmmaker Clive Tonge has taken inspiration from an original project with Jonathan Frank itself based on the mythology and real-life phenomena of sleep paralysis, also known as Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS).
It's described as "being conscious but unable to move" that occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep.
Javier Botet, Melissa Bolona, Craig Conway, Lance E. Nichols, Rosie Fellner, and Jacob Grodnik complete the cast of this independent horror which looks set to follow in the footsteps of Lights Out and Don't Breathe as sleeper hits.
It's produced by the same team behind Paranormal Activity and Insidious, both successful franchises in their own right.
Mara doesn't yet have a release date.
