Manuel Pellegrini on the brink as West Ham fans make their feelings loud and clear in Arsenal loss

Pellegrini on the brink

West Ham's 3-1 home defeat against Arsenal will pile the pressure back on Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers' win at Chelsea last month brought the Chilean some time but they have shown no signs of building on that result and are now in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle.

Owners David Sullivan and David Gold have been patient with Pellegrini and have wanted to stick by him, but time is quickly running out for the West Ham manager.

Saturday’s trip to Southampton feels pivotal.

Another bad defeat and Sullivan and Gold could be forced to pull the trigger before Christmas.

Fans make their feelings known

The boos from West Ham fans at full-time will have been heard loud and clear in the director’s box at the London Stadium.

West Ham could not have asked for easier opposition than Arsenal and the way they fall apart in the second half will be a major concern for the board.

It increasingly feels like Pellegrini is coming to the end of the road.

West Ham were devoid of ideas all night and, aside from the win at Chelsea, have been poor for close to three months now.

Lose at St Mary’s on Saturday and there is a good chance they will be in the relegation zone at Christmas.
