Manuel Lanzini relishing Erik Lamela reunion as West Ham prepare for Sevilla trip

Manuel Lanzini is looking forward to a reunion with some of his international teammates when West Ham travel to Sevilla on Thursday night.

It’s difficult to think of a bigger game in the club’s recent history as David Moyes prepares to meet Europa League royalty and a win against the La Liga side would add further credence to West Ham’s challenge on that front this season.

While they remain in the hunt to qualify for next season’s Champions League, London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal have games in hand as they bid to finish in the top four.

Out of the FA Cup, the Europa League offers the most realistic chance of glory for the club this season and a European night away at one of the continent’s powerhouses will surely live long in the memory considering where the team were before Moyes’ return.

Lanzini, speaking to the club’s official website, revealed he was excited to reunite with the likes of Erik Lamela, Lucas Ocampos and Papu Gomez.

“I have a lot of friends there,” he said.

“There are a lot of Argentinean players at Sevilla. I’ve played with all of them, and it’s going to be good to see them again.

“Montiel, Gómez, Acuña … I played with Lamela, Montiel and Ocampos at River Plate, and the other boys I played in the national team.

“They’re really very good guys. It’s going to be good to see them again.”
