Olympic skateboarder Hayley Wilson has been keenly watching the rest Games in Tokyo as she completes her quarantine in Sydney.
Originally from Mansfield, Victoria, Wilson made history in Tokyo as the first female skateboarder to compete in the street event for Australia.
Although she did not progress to the finals, which was a "bitter pill to swallow", Wilson was proud to represent her country.
"It was such an amazing one that I will never forget — the fact that we all got to go to the Olympics, it says enough in itself."
Wilson said the exposure skateboarding has received through the Olympics would be great for the sport.
"With Poppy, Keegan and Kieran all in the finals and then Keegan winning, it was so cool to watch, I wish I could have watched it in person."
Bring on Paris
Wilson is already setting her sights on Paris in 2024, saying that, if she could do one competition again, it would be the Olympics.
"I think what makes the Olympics so amazing is that we get to experience something that we personally, as skaters, have never experienced before, but now we have," Wilson said.
For now, Wilson is looking forward to the end of her quarantine this week. The main thing she's looking forward to?
"Breathing some fresh air," she said.
"I'm super happy to see my friends and family again. That's going to be nice."
