Nottinghamshire Police are asking motorists to find alternative routes following a serious collision this morning. Officers closed a number of roads following a serious collision on Wednesday morning, July 12.
A number of roads were closed after the incident happened at the junction of the A60 Nottingham Road and the A617 Marr Route in Mansfield.. Traffic monitoring site Inrix states the A617 is closed in both directions, causing long delays. It says there is queueing traffic due to accident investigation work from A38 Kings Mill Road East to A6117. Inrix is reporting congestion to roads through Mansfield and Ravenshead as traffic diverts.
Police said the junction is closed along with roads including Lindhurst Lane, Bellamy Road, Sherwood Way South and Litchfield Lane after the accident happened at approximately 4am this morning.
Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are urging drivers to plan alternative routes and avoid the area whilst we continue to work and resolve this incident.
"The closures are expected to be in place for some time and we thank drivers for their patience.”
