Manor Solomon explains why he signed for Tottenham and position he will play

Manor Solomon says his decision to join Tottenham was a no-brainer despite an “amazing” year at Fulham, and insists the Premier League has only seen a glimpse of his potential.

Solomon spent last season on loan at Fulham but turned down a chance to stay at Craven Cottage to instead sign for Spurs on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.

“I had an amazing time at Fulham,” said the winger, who scored five goals in 24 games for the Cottagers. “I had a really good bond with the fans and Fulham, from the first moment, they were really kind.

“But when you have the opportunity to come to a big club like Spurs, and if the manager wants you, it is really hard to say no. So immediately when I heard about Spurs, I wanted to come here. It is a big opportunity for me.”

Solomon struggled to hold down a regular starting place in the Fulham team but enjoyed a hot streak midway through last season when he scored in five straight matches.

The 23-year-old Israel international prefers to operate on the left but can also play on the right and will add depth to the Spurs squad behind Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

“I always want to improve, to improve myself and to improve the team,” said Solomon. “That is my goal. I am still young, so I still have big room to improve.

“I have not showed anything yet. I will try to bring energy, speed and dribbling, try to create chances, to assist and to score goals.

“Son is a great player, I don’t need to talk about him. He is a top player and when you arrive to a club like Spurs there is always a big competition for the position.

“My main position is on the left, but I can play on the right as well. I will try to improve myself and to knock on the door every time to play.”
