Manor Solomon confirms Tottenham transfer with emotional farewell message

Manor Solomon confirmed his move to Tottenham Hotspur by writing a farewell message to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Solomon becomes the club's fifth signing of the summer, following the permanent signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro, as well as the arrivals of James Maddison and new goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The forward spent last season on loan at Fulham but knee surgery saw the 23-year-old forced to wait until the turn of the year to make his mark.

After several appearances off the bench for Marco Silva's side as he made his way back to full fitness, Solomon seemed to quickly hit stride and make an immediate impact. The winger scored in four consecutive league games, including a couple of impressive finishes, also getting on the scoresheet against Leeds in the FA Cup during an incredible five-game run.

The Israel international joins on a free transfer confirmed his move to Spurs by addressing Shakhtar Donetsk fans on social media. In an Instagram post, Solomon said: "Although I haven’t played for Shakhtar for a while, today it’s time to say goodbye.

"A big thank you to the club, my teammates, and the fans. We’ve made some great memories together! Wishing all the best to Shakhtar and everyone in Ukraine."

Solomon was allowed to join as a free transfer as FIFA granted the right to all non-Ukrainian players the right to suspend their contracts due to the ongoing playing in the country. However, Solomon will be able to line up against his former teammates next month, when Spurs host Shakhtar in a friendly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, August 6.

His career began at Maccabi Petah Tikva, where he made his first team debut aged 17, and went on to feature 83 times in two-and-a-half seasons.
