Manly receive good news on Garrick, wait on Talau scan

Manly have breathed a sigh of relief with centre Reuben Garrick able to pay a fine for a hip-drop tackle in their win over the Warriors.

At risk of a sudden shortage in their centres, Garrick was on Saturday hit with a grade-one dangerous contact charge for a hip-drop on Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.

In slippery conditions at Brookvale, Garrick landed his body on the Warriors fullback's legs as he brought him to ground in the in-goal late in the match.

Had Garrick been hit with a grade-two charge he would have been facing a two-match ban even with an early guilty plea.

His relief came as fellow Manly centre Tommy Talau was sent for scans on an injured pectoral muscle on Saturday.

Sea Eagles officials are confident the tear is not serious, but Talau is not expected to be fit to face his former club Wests Tigers on Thursday.

Assuming he misses the match, Tolu Koula is expected to return to Manly's starting side in Talau's spot.

The Sea Eagles remain in the hunt for a top-four spot with their final two matches against Canterbury and Cronulla likely to prove crucial.

Elsewhere, Parramatta prop Wiremu Greig is facing a two-match ban for the high tackle that left Connor Watson concussed in the Eels' loss to the Sydney Roosters on Friday.

Already out of finals contention, Parramatta would risk that suspension going to three matches and ending Greig's season if they fight the charge and lose.

Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson, Sydney Roosters backrower Victor Radley and Warriors playmaker Chanel Harris-Tavita can all accept for fines for other charges out of Friday's matches.
