Woman's cheeky advert for dog-sitter mocked as 'pretentious and disrespectful'

When it comes to needing a pet sitter, most people turn to their friends and family to avoid having to pay for boarding. But one woman has been shamed after asking those closest to her for help in the "most pretentious way possible".

Sharing their shock on Reddit, a user explained how the woman took to social media to ask somebody to dog sit for her while she holidays with her family for 10 days. In her post, the woman said: "A lot of you that are my friends have always told me 'if you need anything, let me know.' Well here it is, I need help.

"Our family will be going on vacation and we need help. I need to find a dog sitter for two dogs for 10 days."

The woman went on to explain how she owns two German shorthaired pointers - one in their prime and the other reaching old age.

She says they spend most of their time in the garden but sleep inside the house at night.

She added: "If you have a kennel at your home awesome, even better.

"I don't want to pay for boarding at the vet clinic because I don't want to pay the £200 to £750 it costs per dog - putting me out £400 to £1,500.

"And, quite frankly, they do nothing for your animals. "

The woman's dogs will "only eat a certain kind of food" and need to be played with during the day to ensure they're mentally and physically stimulated.

"All in all, what I am trying to say is all of you who have said 'if you need anything, let me know', I am asking for help to care for my dogs as we go on a family vacation for 10 days," she added.

"I can buy two bags of their dog food for them and pay you £5 a day for each dog making that £100 total only if you promise to take great care of our dogs for us.

"I'm really needing this help from all of you who have ever told me 'if you need anything, let me know".

"Please private message me if you can help and watch our dogs for us and if we come back to healthy dogs, we will tip on top of the money I have offered to pay."

While most users couldn't believe the woman's 'patronising' way of asking for help, others urged her friends to 'run a mile' - while another simply dubbed it 'unreasonable'

One user said: "Even if someone was kind/stupid enough to do this, you 100 per cent know they would complain that you mistreated their dogs after the trip.

"And what is with constant repeating of 'If you need anything...' line."

Another user added: "She really laid it on thick with the 'if you need anything let me know' thing."

A third user said: "You can tell she doesn’t even have anyone specific in mind when she wrote the line about their friends saying 'if you need anything, let me know,' because then she would just reach out to those people personally."
