Manhunt launched for gunman on run after shots fired at 'local business'

A manhunt is underway for a gunman who fired two shots inside a Manchester business. The incident, that locals terrified, occurred at 11pm on Sunday night as cops have launched enquiries.

The shooter, who was said to have fled the scene at speed on a bicycle, is the subject of a police appeal for information over the incident that saw a firearm discharged twice on the Burnage stretch of Kingsway, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Greater Manchester Police say they are pursuing 'a number of lines of inquiry' but it is being reported no one was hurt in the shooting. The force have issued a description of the man in connection with the incident inside the business.

He is described as tall and slim and entered the building just before 11pm and discharged the weapon twice as a scene remains in place on site.

Superintendent Paul Walker of Greater Manchester Police said: "Firstly, I want to reassure the local community that we believe this incident to be a targeted attack and there is no risk to the wider public.

"We are now appealing to members of the public who might have witnessed something or might have information that could aid our investigation to please come forwards and share it with us."
