Manhunt as victim in 30s stabbed by ‘machete attacker’ in south London

A young man is in hospital after being stabbed at lunchtime as police launch a search for his attacker in south east London.

Emergency services arrived within four minutes to find the victim, in his 30s, on Parry Place, near Plumstead Road, Woolwich.

Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at 1.34pm on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said.

London Ambulance Service added the man has been taken to a hospital’s major trauma centre.

His condition is still be assessed.

Footage posted on social media shows paramedics treating a man lying on the road.

One user on X, formerly Twitter, claimed: “I just witnessed a man strike another man with a machete on my lunch break.

“I am literally shaking.”

A force spokesperson said: “A crime scene is in place.

“No arrests have been made.

“Enquiries continue.”

London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 1.26pm today (March 27) to reports of a stabbing on Parry Place, SE18.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.

“Our first paramedics arrived on scene in approximately four minutes.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
