A manhunt is on after a machete attack on a Tyneside street.
The 23-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in the incident, which happened in Wallsend on Sunday night.
Police received a report of a an assault on St Peter's Road in the town at around 10.30pm.

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for "serious but non-life threatening injuries".
Officers say his injuries are consistent with those caused by a blade.
No weapon has yet been recovered but the Chronicle understands police are looking into whether a machete was used in the assault.
On Monday morning the area around a house on St Peter's Road was cordoned off with police tape and officers could be seen carrying brown evidence bags away from the property.
No-one has been arrested and police are appealing for witnesses.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 10.30pm yesterday we received a report of an assault at St Peter’s Road, Wallsend.
“It was reported that a man had been assaulted and was suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he remains.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and officers continue to have a presence in the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101."
The Chronicle understands the victim went to the home of a relative to get help after the attack.
