Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has made a firm commitment to ensuring that justice is served in the case of the suspected killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Bragg has stated that he intends to extradite the suspect, Luigi Mangione, to New York to face the charges against him.
During a recent statement, Bragg emphasized his determination to bring the defendant to New York and ensure that he goes through the appropriate legal proceedings. He mentioned the possibility of additional charges being brought against Mangione as more information about the case, including motives, comes to light.
According to a warrant, Mangione is currently facing charges of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree in connection with Thompson's killing.
Following his arrest in Pennsylvania, Mangione pleaded not guilty to charges of forging a document and criminal possession of a firearm. He was subsequently denied bail.
Despite the charges against him, Mangione's defense attorney has indicated that his client does not intend to plead guilty to the charges in New York.
