Former President Donald Trump is currently managing his presidential campaign while dealing with multiple legal challenges. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has opposed Trump’s request to pause the proceedings in his New York state criminal case.
Trump's lawyers recently petitioned to move his hush money case to federal court, but a federal judge denied this request to transfer the case to the Southern District of New York. Trump's legal team promptly filed a notice of appeal following the judge's decision.
In response to Trump's attempt to delay the state proceedings based on the federal ruling, the DA’s office stated that there is no basis for such a request since there is no pending notice of removal with the federal court.
Meanwhile, Judge Juan Merchan has yet to rule on Trump’s separate request to postpone his sentencing until after the election. The sentencing could potentially result in Trump facing up to four years in prison due to his conviction earlier this year on 34 counts of falsifying business records.
This case is one of four criminal cases that Trump is currently facing as he pursues another presidential campaign.
