Manchester weather forecast as city welcomes start of sunny period

Mancunians all across the region will have the opportunity to sneak in some sunbathing today as sunny skies move in.

It comes after parts of the UK experienced some of their highest temperatures of the year already this week, with the Scottish Highlands recording temperatures over 20C. Meanwhile, Manchester is set to see temperatures as high as 16C throughout this afternoon, according to the Met Office.

The forecaster stated that most of the UK will see its highest temperatures today before conditions begin to gradually cool as we advance further into the week from Wednesday to Friday. This means Brits will likely have the best chance to enjoy the warmer conditions today.

Met Office meteorologist Kathryn Chalk said: "We’ll be influenced by a Scandinavian high, an area of high pressure over Scandinavia, and then that drives an easterly wind, bringing in some cooler air and brisker as well. So it will be more noticeable, particularly along the eastern coast, for example East Anglia. In that breeze, it is going to feel chilly.”

Tuesday's Manchester forecast

Tuesday morning will likely see more cloudy and cool conditions as temperatures begin to rise as the day advances. By 11am, the sun is expected to come out in full force as temperatures rise to 11C.

By the early to mid-afternoon, temperatures will rise significantly, ranging between 13C and 16C with the sun remaining strong through clear skies. There could be a moderate risk of sunburn during the afternoon, with UV levels predicted to stay moderately high until 5pm.

By the evening, conditions will get relatively cooler, dropping to 10C as the sun completely sets. The Met Office said: "A fine and dry day with a good deal of sunshine once any cloud in the east has cleared through the morning.

"A warm day, though cooler later in the strengthening breeze. Maximum temperature 16 °C."

Manchester forecast for the rest of the week

As we progress through the week, conditions will remain warm and sunny, but with more cloudy sneaking their way in. Wednesday morning will see some sunny intervals but will overall be dominated by cloudy skies. However, as the day advances into the mid and late afternoon, conditions will improve significantly as the sun makes a late appearance accompanied by clear skies from 3pm.

On Thursday, early predictions from the Met Office will see a return of full clear skies and sun throughout the day. However, this will be accompanied by slightly lower temperatures, peaking at 13C throughout the early afternoon.

From Friday, conditions will be slightly more grim with light showers predicted across the region. Despite this, temperatures will remain relatively warm throughout the afternoon, peaking at 12C from 1pm.

The Met Office added that conditions throughout Thursday and Saturday will stay 'mostly dry' with some sunny spells but 'rather breezy. It adds: "An increasing chance of showers and outbreaks of rain developing on Friday and Saturday and remaining breezy."
