Manchester United youngster mimics Erling Haaland goal celebration in U18s derby win

Manchester United youngster Manni Norkett mimicked Manchester City striker Erling Haaland's trademark goal celebration after scoring in the Reds' Under-18s 3-2 derby victory on Saturday.

After falling behind in the first half, United got themselves back on level terms just past the hour mark through Ethan Williams' fourth goal in his last three matches. That gave the young Reds the platform they needed to try and turn the game around, and they did exactly that when Norkett fired them into a 68th-minute lead, heading in Tyler Fredricson's cross.

United made sure of the points and the derby day bragging rights in the last minute of normal time via a James Nolan penalty. City reduced the arrears in stoppage time through Matty Wittingham, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation goal.

The win secured United their first win in their last four league outings, lifting them up to seventh in the table. While the result was the most important takeaway for the Reds, the victory did give them the opportunity to aim a light-hearted jibe at their cross-city neighbours, after City youngster Carlos Borges, in last weekend's Under-21s derby, replicated Cristiano Ronaldo's celebration.

The 18-year-old scored four goals in City's 6-1 win over United at Leigh Sports Village last weekend and copied the celebration Ronaldo pulled out after scoring his 700th club goal in the Reds' 2-1 win at Everton last month. It was seen as the youngster aiming a dig at United and almost mimicking them after the way City's U21s had pulled their rivals apart.

Norkett, following his header to put United 2-1 up on Saturday, decided to copy Haaland's trademark celebration, where the Norwegian sits down in a meditating pose. It attracted plenty of smiles and laughs from his teammates, unsurprisingly.

Once back on his feet, the youngster, who has scored five goals in the Under-18s Premier League this season, also decided to copy Ronaldo's celebration resting his hands over his chest.
