Manchester United youngster compared to Cristiano Ronaldo after sensational FA Youth Cup goal

Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho drew comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo after a sensational performance at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old had fans going wild after his brilliant solo goal capped a fine performance as United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup with a 4-1 win over Everton.

Goals from Francis Okoronkwo, Charlie McNeil and Kobbie Mainoo had put United firmly in control of the tie after Everton had taken an early lead, but it was Garnacho’s effort that had everyone talking.

With time running out and Everton pushing for a way back into the game, the Spaniard pounced on a loose ball on the edge of his own box and broke down the left wing.

The teenager raced past the Toffees’ Mathew Mallon and worked his way into the penalty area before composing himself and coolly slotting past the goalkeeper to confirm United’s place in the next round.

And to top things off, Garnacho replicated Ronaldo’s famous ‘Sui’ celebration, before sharing a shot of himself on his Instagram after the game.

And the Ronaldo emulation didn’t stop there, with plenty of his team-mates comparing Garnacho with the United superstar in their replies.

Daniel Gore wrote ‘CR7’, while McNeil, Marc Jurado and Joe Hugill also got in on the act.

Garnacho has impressed for United’s youth team since making the move to Old Trafford from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in 2020.

The teenager has 11 goals and six assists in all competitions this season, and has certainly earmarked himself as a player to keep an eye on for the future.
