Manchester United winger Amad has issued a heartfelt message on his Instagram page after reaching the conclusion of his loan spell at Scottish giants Rangers.
The Ivorian, who joined United from Italian giants Atalanta in January 2021, made his final appearance for the Gers on Saturday, starting the Scottish Cup final as they beat Hearts 2-0 at Hampden Park. Goals from Ryan Jack and Scott Wright in extra time secured the first trophy of Giovanni van Bronckhorst's premiership as manager.
It was the perfect way for the Scottish heavyweights to bounce back after the heartbreak of losing the Europa League final in Seville just four days earlier. They were beaten on penalties by Eintracht Frankfurt after the contest ended 1-1.
Amad played no part against Frankfurt but started on Saturday. However, he was substituted and replaced by Wright just past the hour mark.
Nevertheless, it ensured that the 19-year-old completed his spell with the Glasgow heavyweights with a medal to his name. Opportunities proved to be largely difficult to come by for the winger. He was restricted to just 13 appearances in his four months in Scotland.
But Amad has reflected fondly on his time north of the border, particularly the relationship he developed with striker Fashion Sakala. The Zambia international joined Rangers last summer, meaning he was still settling into life in Scotland by the time Amad joined the club in January.
Marking the end of his loan spell, the winger took to his Instagram page to post a collection of photographs of himself and Sakala, including one of them lifting the Scottish Cup. Accompanying the image, he wrote: "It was a pleasure my friend, forever friends."
Although Amad only joined Rangers on loan until the end of the season, Gers boss Van Bronckhorst recently refused to rule out the possibility of re-signing him this summer. However, he admitted that it was too early to say if they could bring him back to Glasgow.
The Dutchman, speaking earlier this month, said: "I'm happy with his performance. His loan is to the end of the season, then he goes back to Manchester.
"If he's here next season, I don't know."
