Manchester United will start with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford up front in Anthony Martial‘s absence for today’s visit of West Ham in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag stated his hope that the French striker returns before the World Cup but he remains absent with a back injury, having played only 133 minutes of football this season.
“He is making progress,” Ten Hag told reporters. “He is outside and he is working there. So, he is on the pitch, and we are waiting for his step back into team training.”
The boss had hinted at Rashford and Ronaldo starting up top together in the week.

In better news for United, Donny van de Beek and Harry Maguire made their returns from injury in Thursday’s Europa League win against FC Sheriff. The England defender makes a surprise start today.
“I was really happy to bring [on] Harry and Donny, to give them minutes," added the Red Devils boss. “Because we need them in the coming weeks.
“[Donny] is not even one week in training, the same as Harry Maguire... He was long out, so I was happy to give him some minutes because you need to get in the right form. But he'll have to work himself back.”
Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain out due to injury.

Subs: Bishop, Dubravka, Fred, McTominay, Malacia, Pellistri, Van de Beek, Garnacho, Sancho.
