Manchester United XI vs Man City: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League

Ruben Amorim has made his decision over where to play Bruno Fernandes - (ES Composite)

Ruben Amorim has been forced into a change at centre-back for the Manchester derby after Matthijs de Ligt suffered an injury in the midweek defeat at Nottingham Forest.

As a result, Harry Maguire comes in against Manchester City as the Dutchman drops out of the squad altogether.

Rasmus Hojlund also comes back into the team after being left out against Forest, while Amorim has decided against moving Bruno Fernandes back to one of the two in midfield following his switch to an advanced position at the City Ground.

Kobbie Mainoo is fit again after a two-month absence with a calf injury but he does not make the matchday squad.

“I think Kobbie is returning to training, so we’ll see and assess for this game already," said Amorim ahead of the game.

“Of course, he cannot play a full game, he’s a long time without training.

“I think Matta [de Ligt] has an issue. He has something during the game [at Forest] and we have to assess. I think the rest is normal.”

Ayden Heaven, Jonny Evans and Lisandro Martinez are all still out, but Luke Shaw is back on the bench alongside Mason Mount and Chido Obi.

Confirmed team news

Manchester United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro; Dalot, Ugarte, Casemiro, Dorgu; Garnacho, Fernandes; Hojlund

Subs: Bayindir, Amass, Kukonki, Lindelof, Shaw, Eriksen, Mount, Obi, Zirkzee
