Manchester United's fixture against West Ham has been rescheduled and will now take place at Old Trafford on Saturday, March 25.
The decision was announced after the postponement of two Women's Super League games at the weekend due to a myriad of frozen pitches - Tottenham vs Leicester and Brighton at home to Arsenal were both called off prior to kick-off, however, the Chelsea-Liverpool game was abandoned five minutes after play started.
It will be the first time in 2023 that United will line up at their male counterparts' ground - a place where they have a 100% winning record from their previous three fixtures at the stadium.
In 2021, they beat West Ham 2-0 behind closed doors and had a 3-1 win over Everton in March 2022 in front of 20,000 fans but last time there, Mark Skinner’s side attracted a 30,000-strong crowd at the Theatre of Dreams when they destroyed Aston Villa 5-0 in early December.
United have always attracted a large number of fans to the Theatre of Dreams and are continually breaking attendance records at their usual home pitch at Leigh Sports Village, where a total of 7,666 supporters made the trip to see United punish Liverpool 6-0 in their first fixture of the calendar year when WSL action resumed, a record for the ground.
Skinner told MUTV: “Our entire group of players and staff are extremely excited to perform in front of our incredible fans at Old Trafford, for the second time this season. As the women’s game continues to grow, we are delighted that this great football club remains at the heart of it and offers another wonderful opportunity for fans – both old and new – to experience a Manchester United Women’s game on the biggest stage.”
Polly Bancroft, head of women’s football, added: “This will be another great occasion for Manchester United Women, and a wonderful opportunity for our amazing fans to set another Old Trafford attendance record, for the third time in succession. We cannot wait to see everyone cheering us on at the Theatre of Dreams, in another fine spectacle for the women's game.”
As it stands, Skinner’s side are top of the WSL table after their 1-0 win over Reading at the weekend - Rachel Williams with the only goal of the game just three minutes after coming on as a sub for Lucia Garcia.
They will have to face Everton, Tottenham, Leicester and Chelsea in the league before they take to Old Trafford against West Ham.
The game is scheduled for 12:30 GMT on Saturday, March 25 and tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £3 for fans aged under 16 or over 65.
