It's a big week for United who simply cannot afford to do anything other than beat Spurs on Saturday evening if they are to harbour any realistic hopes of finishing fourth in the Premier League.
If they do slip up, and get turned over by Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, then there season is all but over by the middle of March, which would be a sorry state of affairs even by United's current standards.
The Reds are favourites to beat a Tottenham side that are breathing right down their necks in the Premier League but the hosts are odds-against at 23/20 with Betfred, while Spurs are 5/2 chances to get a win that would see them leapfrog United in the table.
United appear to be on the floor after last weekend's battering at the Etihad and their record at Old Trafford this season is mixed at best.
The Reds have failed to win half of their home games in the Premier League this season, dropping points against the likes of Southampton and Watford recently, as well as going out of the FA Cup to Middlesbrough, although Saturday's rivals have also suffered that particular fate.
United's easy schedule is officially over and that spells trouble because even through that period of soft fixtures since Ralf Rangnick took over, they have been outperformed by the every side above them.
And now the Reds must try and repel a Spurs side that has posted back-to-back wins without conceding, and who won this fixture by an unforgettable six goals to one last season.
Inconsistency has dogged Spurs in recent weeks but their offensive process is really starting to flourish under Conte who has seen his side score 12 goals in their last four league games. Harry Kane, having effectively gone AWOL for the first half of the season, is starting to rediscover the form that enticed Man City into offering him mega money to join the champions in the summer.
Manchester United vs Tottenham prediction
Spurs head to United in confident mood and this feels like a game that United, who are not in a great place right now, could easily lose.
Goals look almost guaranteed but over 2.5 is tight enough at 8/11. A much better option is to back Spurs to score at least two against a United defence that is creaking right now.
Recommended bet: Over 1.5 Tottenham Hotspur goals @ 6/4 with Betfred
