Amad Diallo’s hat-trick helped Manchester United come from behind to win 3-1 against Southampton and you find our player ratings below.

Manchester United vs Southampton Player Ratings

Ruben Amorim’s side were under pressure from the opening minute, as Southampton came close to opening the scoring on several occasions in the first-half.

The Saints were rewarded in the 43rd minute from a corner, as Tyler Dibling’s flick on came off the back of Manuel Ugarte and into the net.

United had to wait until the 82nd minute to find their goal, as Amad Diallo smashed the ball under Aaron Ramsdale into the bottom right corner.

The match completely turned on its head just eight minutes later, as Christian Eriksen played a superb ball into Amad who once again finished superbly.

The Ivorian netted his first senior hat-trick just four minutes later, capitalising on a Taylor Harwood-Bellis mistake to roll the ball into an empty net.

Manchester United Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 8

The Cameroon international kept United in the match during the first 45 mintues, making some superb saves and there was not much he could do with the goal.

Lisandro Martínez – 6

Seemed to get caught out in wide areas due to the back three, but made some crucial tackles and progressed the ball well at times.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7

The Duthchman was the pick of the bunch from United’s back line, strong in the air and put in a vital tackle to stop Sulemana from having a 1v1 chance.

Leny Yoro – 4

The teenager will be looking to forget tonight’s display as soon as possible, Sulemana ran the Frenchman ragged and was a harsh welcome to England.

Noussair Mazraoui – 5.5

His deep position gave United problems when they were pressing and was not that comfortable on the ball.

Kobbie Mainoo – 4

A surprisingly poor perofmance from Mainoo, sloppy on the ball and slow to get back – probably deserved to be substituted at half time.

Manuel Ugarte – 5.5

The Uruguayan worked hard throughout the game but was not always an option for his defenders and this allowed Southampton to win the ball back quickly.

Amad Diallo – 9

Once again Amad Diallo was Manchester United’s hero, a hat-trick in around 10 minutes helped his side come from behind and gave Kyle Walker-Peters huge problems.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5

After a difficult few months in Manchester, Garnacho was rewarded with a start and put in an underwhelming performance – missed a golden chance in the first half.

Bruno Fernandes – 6

Covered every blade of grass at Old Trafford but was not his usual self in the attacking phase.

Rasmus Højlund – 4

Another disappointing performance for the Norwegian striker, struggled to find a chance and did not help his side by holding the ball up.

Substitutes

Antony – 5

Joshua Zirkzee – 7

Toby Collyer – 6.5

Christian Eriksen – 7

Harry Maguire – 6

Southampton Player Ratings

Aaron Ramsdale – 6

The Englishman has a poor record against Manchester United and did not have much to do before the 82nd minute.

James Bree – 6.5

Was always an option due to United’s poor pressing, while also being strong defensively winning all of his headers and tackles.

Jan Bednarek – 5.5

The Polish defender was the most accurate passer on the pitch but was caught on his heels at times, committing three fouls and was lucky to avoid a yellow card.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis – 6

Another impressive display for the promising defender, looked assured at the back and played some superb forward passes – rating slightly hindered for his mistake for the final goal.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 6

Up until the 80th minute Walker-Peters was on a rating of 7.5, but was run ragged in the final 10 minutes by Amad Diallo.

Joe Aribo – 7.5

Undoubtedly the best midfielder on the pitch at Old Trafford, Ugarte and Mainoo could not get near him and Aribo did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Lesley Ugochukwu – 6

Looked very comfortable on the ball but lacked some defensive maturity towards the end of the match.

Yukinari Sugawara – 6

Kept Alejandro Garnacho quiet for the majority of the match but failed to offer much during Southampton’s attacks.

Mateus Fernandes – 6.5

Should have scored in the first-half but his shot was straight at Andre Onana, but Fernandes was always an option.

Kamaldeen Sulemana – 8

Leny Yoro will be having nightmares about the Southampton defender, the 22-year-old completed 5/6 dribbles and was a constant threat.

Tyler Dibling – 7

The Southampton starlet got the flick on to cause Ugarte’s own-goal and showed moments of brilliance on the ball.

Substitutes

William Smallbone – 6

Flynn Downes – 5

Adam Armstrong – 5.5

Paul Onuachu – 5

Nathan Wood – 4.5
