Follow live coverage as Manchester United face Arsenal today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Manchester United make four alterations from the side that beat Ipswich Town 3-2 in the Premier League on February 26. Injuries for both Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte necessitate the inclusions of Lindelof and Casemiro in defence and midfield respectively, while Mazraoui is drafted in to play wing-back because of Patrick Dorgu’s suspension. The final swap sees Eriksen get the nod ahead of Hojlund, though the Denmark international will pair Casemiro in the middle of the park, pushing both Fernandes and Zirkzee higher up the pitch.

Liverpool’s come-from-behind victory over Southampton yesterday puts the Reds temporarily 16 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the table, with the Gunners having played two fewer matches than the league leaders. After registering just two goals in their last three domestic matches against Leicester City, West Ham and Nottingham Forest, Mikel Arteta’s side let the floodgates open on Tuesday in their 7-1 thrashing of PSV in the Champions League, which stands them in good stead for a fifth-consecutive Premier League win over Manchester United.

Manchester United turn their attention to Premier League matters after a week of cup exploits, losing on penalties to Fulham last weekend in the FA Cup before drawing 1-1 with Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday. Level on points with Everton in 14th place but behind by virtue of a worse goal difference, Ruben Amorim’s side can jump two spots into 13th with a win after Tottenham’s tie earlier; which would be their first back-to-back victories in the league since August 2024.
