Manchester United U23s to play Monaco friendly fixture during warm-weather training camp

Manchester United's U23s will play Monaco on Tuesday in a friendly fixture.

United are currently in Monaco for a three-day warm-weather training camp. The club's U23s beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Premier League 2 ahead of the weekend and they'll maintain their fitness throughout the training camp before their next domestic match.

Neil Wood's side will test themselves against Monaco on Tuesday before returning to Manchester this week. It is an opportunity for the U23s to get experience against European opposition after the academy's UEFA Youth League campaign.

The UEFA Youth League is for U19s but many of the players that featured in that competition play for the U23 side. United were knocked out of the UEFA Youth League Round of 16 at home to Borussia Dortmund at the start of March.

With that game at 2-2 in normal time, penalties were needed to split the two sides and United fell short from the spot. United's U23s are set to play Arsenal after the Monaco friendly on Friday, April 22 at Leigh Sports Village.
