Manchester United U18s star Ethan Ennis make first-team case as stunning scoring run continues

Manchester United may have found their next young superstar, with Ethan Ennis hitting sensational form for the club’s youth teams.

There has been plenty of talk around United’s academy stars in recent weeks, with supporters arguing some of them should get their chance in the first team after the Reds’ recent dismal showings. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Shola Shoretire and Zidane Iqbal have impressed with the recent showings as they make their case to Ralf Rangnick.

And United may well have another player following hot on their heels. Ennis was once again on the scoresheet on Tuesday night, making it eight goals in his last games.

The Reds won the race to sign the winger last summer after he had turned his back on Liverpool, although he had to remain patient for starts with the Under-18s as Garnacho impressed. With the former Atletico Madrid youngster making the step up to the U23s though, Ennis has come into his own.

He was once again in action on Tuesday as United’s U18s hosted Wolves at Carrington, and he continued his superb recent form. Ennis opened the scoring, cutting inside to finish on his right foot after receiving the ball from Omari Forson on the left.

The strike took his tally for the season to nine, but more impressively it was his eighth in his last eight appearances. United would go on to win the game 2-0, with Joe Hugill doubling the lead, while Manni Norkett missed a second-half penalty.

It was Ennis though who was again the talk of the academy after the game, with his reputation growing by the game. The 17-year-old is playing himself into contention for United’s upcoming FA Youth Cup final against Nottingham Forest, and Rangnick may also be keeping a close eye on him.
