Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has claimed that Brentford star Christian Eriksen would improve Manchester United amid rumours he could join the Red Devils this summer. The Danish midfielder’s future has been the subject of much speculation, with his short-term contract in west London expiring in June.
Eriksen signed a six-month deal with the Bees in January and has rebuilt his career after suffering cardiac arrest whilst playing for Denmark at Euro 2020. His creativity, vision and ability to retain possession have played a vital role in Thomas Frank’s side avoiding relegation in their maiden Premier League season.
The 30-year-old’s impressive form has seen him linked with a number of clubs, including former side Spurs, where he spent six-and-half-seasons before leaving for Inter Milan in January 2020. However, Man United are expected to have a major overhaul this summer with new boss Erik ten Hag at the helm and Sherwood - who previously worked with Eriksen during his spell in north London - believes he could be part of that rebuild.

“The Brentford fans must be pinching themselves thinking they have got a player of this quality." Sherwood told Sky Sports. “Yes, they gave him the opportunity to come back to the Premier League. He’s such a good type. A wonderful player. One of the fittest boys I ever worked with. One of the most determined as well.
“He is a good example to all the young boys around. He could play for Man United and improve their midfield. Play for Tottenham and improve [them].”
Sherwood also claimed that United would have the edge over Spurs in signing Eriksen, due to the fact he didn’t feature as often as he would’ve liked when he worked with Antonio Conte at Inter. The Dane spent just under two years at the San Siro before he was released in December 2021.
He added: “The only thing I would say on the Tottenham side is that he went to Inter Milan and he started 31 games under Antonio Conte in two seasons, so for me, Christian wants to play – I think now he will want to go where he can play on a regular basis. I think he will factor that in. Will he be loyal to Brentford? Possibly. That’s the nature of the boy.”
