Manchester United told to hire Roy Keane role after explosive derby defeat rant

Manchester United have been told to hand Roy Keane a role at the club following Sunday's defeat against Manchester City.

United suffered a 4-1 defeat against rivals City at the weekend and that was the latest humiliating result in a season that couldn't end soon enough. United were supposed to challenge for the Premier League title this campaign but find themselves fighting for Champions League football instead, which has led to heavy criticism of the club's players and strategy.

Keane was on punditry duties for Sky Sports at the Etihad and he delivered a typical brutally honest assessment of United's performance after the game. The United legend drew praise for his passionate rant that took aim at the players.

Jamie O'Hara has suggested Keane should land a role at United following that rant, suggesting that the club would be better with him around. “Why don’t they [United] get Roy Keane?” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

“Not as the manager, but why is Roy Keane not involved at Manchester United? Tell me why he’s not involved.

“He’s not just an ex-player is he, he was the captain of the most successful team in the Premier League. Surely, if I was Man United, and I was hearing him [Keane] every week on Sky, I’d want someone like that at my football club.

“We’ve got to get this guy in, and get these players to have that mentality, have him around, surely?”

Keane was recently interviewed for the Sunderland job but talks collapsed.
