Manchester United told the Pep Guardiola trait that Erik ten Hag will bring to Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have been given another reason to be excited about Erik ten Hag’s imminent arrival.

The Dutchman is on course for his third straight Eredivisie title with Ajax, having finished top of the pile every full season he’s completed. That domestic dominance is sure to fuel the anticipation of United supporters, as will his style of play, according to a former player.

Ten Hag transformed Ajax in the early embers of his tenure and Brighton defender Joel Veltman was a part of the journey. He was made captain by the coach prior to his 2020 switch to England.

The full-back explained how, like Pep Guardiola, Ten Hag wants to play complete football with a touch of modernism in his style of play. As quoted by The Argus, he said: “(Ten Hag adds) New things as well.

“That is what Guardiola does at Manchester City and that is what Ten Hag wants to do as well. Say with Joao Cancelo, he is a right-back but he is coming inside and the winger is dropping a little bit and kind of changes in a team.

“That is what Ten Hag does as well.” Veltman added that even his daughter has been asked by her friend, who is a United fan, about Ten Hag.

He continued: “My daughter goes to school and a classmate of hers is a United fan as well. He is already saying, ‘How is Ten Hag? Is he good? Does he do good things for our club?’ That type of thing.”
