Manchester United target Antony has sent transfer message to Erik ten Hag

Manchester United target Antony has already opened the door to following Erik ten Hag to Old Trafford.

After emerging as one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe under Ten Hag at Ajax, the Brazilian is being tracked by United and they're pushing for his signature. It has been suggested it would take around £40million to complete the signing.

Aside from Antony, the Old Trafford giants want to sign a new centre-back, a back-up goalkeeper, and two midfielders, with Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen among their targets this summer. De Jong is edging closer to his move from the Nou Camp while Antony, 22, features towards the top of United's shopping list.

Speaking about Ten Hag after his Old Trafford appointment, Antony said: "I want to thank you for everything you taught me. I am thankful for all the opportunities and learning every day. Know that I will always stand with you if you need me."

Ten Hag was replaced as Ajax manager by Alfred Schreuder and he was quick to insist that United defensive target Jurrien Timber will stay put this summer. However, when pressed on Antony's future, he stopped short of making such promises.

Schreuder told ESPN Netherlands: "Clearly, we want to keep the boy. He has a contract until 2025, but I'm not about that [any individual players].

"I'm about the squad and I really want to work with him. He knows that and the club know that too."

Antony signed for Ajax from hometown club Sao Paulo in 2020. Since then, the fleet-footed winger has scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists in 78 games, forming a key part of the squad that won back-to-back Eredivisie titles before Ten Hag moved on to United.
