On-loan Sunderland winger Amad Diallo wasn't exactly gracious in defeat judging by his public response after losing out to Alex Scott in the EFL awards on Sunday night.
Bristol City midfielder Scott was crowned the EFL Championship Young Player of the Season, beating fellow nominees Diallo and Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney to the prestigious award.
Scott, who continues to enjoy a superb season having made 38 league starts, joined an illustrious list of previous winners including Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, Ollie Watkins, and Gareth Bale.
Shortly after Scott was announced as the winner, Diallo took to social media posting to his 511,000 followers: "Youg player, who?" alongside a pair of laughing emojis. Scores of City fans responded, sharing pictures of Scott and clips of Nigel Pearson dancing on the touchline earlier in the season.
Diallo, who is currently on loan from Manchester United, has scored 12 goals and provided a further three assists this season with the Black Cats moving up into the play-off places with a victory away at West Brom on Sunday.
Scott was also named in the Championship Team of the Season, alongside former City midfielder Josh Brownhill. When asked what he put his form down to this season, the 19-year-old replied after collecting his award: "The trust from the coaching staff.
"I owe a lot to the Club, I have been there three years now coming over as a young 16 year old, and now I’m playing every week in the Championship so I owe a lot to them and I am grateful for it.
"I think I have had to grow up a lot. Everyone at the Club help to keep you grounded, my teammates are big on that aswell so I have a lot of people to thank and I’m just grateful to be here and win this award."
Middlesbrough's Chuba Akpom won the Championship Player of the Season as he dominates the top-scoring charts with 28 while City also picked up the EFL Green Club Award for their continued impressive work in becoming the most environmentally sustainable club.
City's Supporters Liasion Officer Jerry Tocknell was one of three nominees for the EFL Club Employee Award in recognition of his tireless work throughout the campaign. He also reached 1000 consecutive away matches this season but the winner went to Burton Albion's John Clarke.
