Manchester United takeover latest as Glazers wait 'could hold-up potential signing'

Manchester United's takeover process continues to rumble on with no end date in sight.

The Glazers announced they had put the club on the market back in November. At the time, it was unclear whether they were wanting a full sale or further investment in the Reds.

Nevertheless, two offers were made for United. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's bid will see him buy 100 per cent of the club and would lead to the Glazers' exit. Meanwhile, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's 60 per cent offer opened the door for the Americans to remain. As the indecision continues, Erik ten Hag's transfer plans could begin to be affected.

Takeover could hold-up Frimpong deal

According to Sky Sports Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, United are pursuing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutchman impressed for Xabi Alonso's men last season and was thought to be a target for Arsenal.

However, Plettenberg understands the Gunners are not the lead party anymore, United are. Any deal though would be subject to the takeover passing. It is understood Leverkusen would be looking for £35m if they were to part ways with their defender.

Sheikh Jassim bid 'splits' the Glazers

According to The Mirror, Sheikh Jassim's bid has split the Glazers in two. It is understood the family are not on the same page in regards to whether to accept it or not.

Previously, it was understood Avram and Joel Glazer were wanting to remain at United while the less prominent members of the family were happy to sell up. It is unclear if this remains the case among the family but an agreement needs to be reached in order for the sale to be pushed through.
