The Manchester United Supporters' Trust has urged any potential new owner of Manchester United to promise a degree of fan ownership.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed his desire to purchase United from the Glazers in public for the first time on Wednesday. Ratcliffe, 69, is estimated to be worth £10.8billion and he supported the club growing up after being born in Failsworth, Greater Manchester.
United fans want the Glazers to sell the club after years of declining standards and increased debt. Although Ratcliffe, who founded Ineos chemicals group, would be a credible buyer, MUST has explained any change in ownership must be right.

MUST released a statement on Thursday morning and they outlined the conditions for any new prospective owner of United.
The statement from MUST read: "Speculation is mounting about a potential change of ownership or new investors at Manchester United. Whilst supporters have called for change, of course this has to be the right change
"Any prospective new owner or investor has to be committed to the culture, ethos and best traditions of the club. They have to be willing to invest to restore United to former glories, and that investment must be real new money sent on the playing side and the stadium.
"Finally, any new ownership structure must embed suporters, including a degree of fan share ownership, in their operating model.
"These are the criteria supporters will judge any bid on. We are open to dialogue with any bidder, and look forward to such discussions."
